Edmonton City Centre campus staff to lend a hand at Anderson Gardens build site

Edmonton, AB – September 11, 2012 – The staff from Reeves College in Edmonton City Centre will be pitching in at their first volunteer build with Habitat for Humanity Edmonton. On Saturday, September 15, 2012, a group of staff members will assist with landscaping duties at the Anderson Gardens project at 123 Ave and 41st Street from 8:00am-4:00pm.

With families across Edmonton facing the dilemma of choosing between buying groceries and clothing or paying the rent, Habitat for Humanity strives to help people access safe and affordable housing in Edmonton and surrounding communities. All homes are built by volunteers and the organization relies solely on the generosity and goodwill of donors.

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is a perfect fit for staff at the Edmonton City Centre campus, according to Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for Reeves College.
“Every day, staff and instructors at all Reeves College campuses help people improve their lives through education,” says Heinzlmeir. “Working with Habitat for Humanity is another way they can create more positive changes in the world.”

Currently, Habitat for Humanity has 11 homes in various stages of construction at Anderson Gardens. The Reeves College volunteers will lend a hand planting trees, gardening, leveling land and laying sod and grass. Anderson Gardens will eventually be home to 47 families when it is complete.
