When it comes to the business world, a strong education can lay the groundwork for a bright future. But, landing your dream job takes a little more than a well-polished resume these days.
In a recent report in the Edmonton Journal, a number of hiring professionals cited in-person meetings as one of the major factors that led to the hiring of a new employee. Robert Gosine, a managing partner for Calgary's Summit Search Group, suggests that candidates who go the extra mile to call or meet a recruiter in person will make more of an impression on hiring professionals.
"[Recruiters are] getting quite a few resumes that come their way, and if you make the effort of going in person to a company that's hiring - it gives you a competitive advantage," Gosine told the Journal.
David Litherland, a managing partner at Vancouver's Summit Search, suggests that calling a company's HR representative to ask for further information on open positions or to respectfully request a meeting. The worst that could happen is they say no, says Litherland.
By enrolling in business courses at Reeves College, students can learn all of the skills that will make them a prime candidate for a business administration position – including job hunting techniques and interview strategies. To find out how you can get started, fill out the form to your right.
