Campuses join event in Calgary and Lethbridge to help women and children escape family violence

Calgary, AB – September 17, 2012 – It takes a real man to wear heels. To prove it, the male staff members from Reeves College in Calgary City Centre and Lethbridge are slipping them on in support of the YWCA’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in both cities.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an annual fundraising event to support the work the YWCA does to break the cycle of family violence and help keep women and children safe. Open only to men, participants take a stand by donning a pair of pumps and completing laps around a designated venue. High heels are provided for participants and a number of sizes are available. The event will take place at Olympic Plaza in Calgary and Galt Park in Lethbridge.

“The staff members at Reeves College realize the important work that the YWCA does helping women and children walk away from family violence,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for Reeves College. “We’re proud to participate in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in Calgary and Lethbridge.”

In Calgary, the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event takes place rain or shine, on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Olympic Plaza in Calgary. Registration opens at 11:00am with the walk starting at noon.

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in Lethbridge event takes place on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Galt Gardens on Third Avenue and Fifth Street. Participants can register at 11:00am. The walk starts promptly at 12:00pm.

Wonderful teachers and excellent staff coordinators. I had a very great experience attending Reeves North with my online program and highly recommend them to anyone who may be considering attending post secondary education or either after high school or changing careers or even to upgrade current degrees. Huge thumbs up!
