Reeves College campuses across Alberta participated in Pink Shirt Day on February 22, 2017 and raised over $600 in support of CKNW Orphans’ Fund. Staff and students at five campuses participated, raising money through various fundraising events.

Since 2008, the CKNW Orphans’ Fund and CKNW radio station have been raising funds for anti-bullying programs. 100% net proceeds raised are distributed to various organizations that support children’s healthy self-esteem and teach empathy, compassion, and kindness.

The event originated in Nova Scotia in 2007 after two teenage boys witnessed a new grade nine boy being harassed by other students. They distributed pink shirts to all the boys in their school to take a stand against bullying and support their classmate. Since then, the annual event has become a symbol for anti-bullying campaigns across the country.

“The students at our campus were very excited to participate,” said Tiffaney Bodnariuk, Campus Director at Reeves Lloyminster. “Some have children or other family members who have experienced bullying so the cause hit very close to home. We are looking forward to taking part in the event again next year.”

Wonderful teachers and excellent staff coordinators. I had a very great experience attending Reeves North with my online program and highly recommend them to anyone who may be considering attending post secondary education or either after high school or changing careers or even to upgrade current degrees. Huge thumbs up!
