How Sweet Inc opened as a candy shop in Lethbridge, Alberta on June 11, 2018. Located in the historic Oliver Building, How Sweet Inc is a twist on a traditional candy store. With the exposed original brickwork and steel pipe shelving, they created a warm, friendly, and fun atmosphere in which to indulge your sweet tooth.
They sell hard-to-find candy, beverages, and other assorted goodies – from the newest treats that haven't arrived on the Canadian market yet, to old favourites that just don't seem to find their way onto supermarket shelves anymore.
Community Focused
Carrie and Colin embarked on a wild adventure, creating a space where people could come and find enjoyment in reliving their youth and sharing those memories with the next generation. How Sweet Inc is a community-focused business that always has something going on. They've built solid partnerships with local artisans.
“We aim to be a fun place for the community to visit and strive to cater to the kid in all of us,” say Colin & Carrie Howe, the owners of How Sweet Inc.
Support Local Businesses
The COVID-19 pandemic brought its own business challenges to How Sweet Inc, but they are fortunate that they could keep their doors open for the majority of the pandemic.
“Perhaps the most difficult thing to do was ask folks to stand outside and wait their turn to come in while we adhered to retail capacity limits. When we first opened three years ago, we never imagined we'd have to be ‘candy bouncers!’” say Colin & Carrie Howe.
