Reeves College Produces Successful Accounting and Payroll Professionals

Calgary, AB - September 14, 2009 - Businesses large and small depend on accounting professionals to manage their finances. Accounting firms and departments, in turn, rely on Accounting and Payroll Administrators (APAs) to provide support and assistance for day-to-day financial operations and project work. This week, Canada salutes the hard work of APAs across the country.

"Accountants are valuable because they are the people who maintain accurate records and provide financial reporting to business owners, stakeholders, and government agencies," says Rhonda Yaskow, Reeves Campus Director in Lloydminster, AB. "Accountants are able to provide useful information and knowledge when it comes to budgeting, taxation, and profitability."

Accounting is also an industry that continues to grow. According to Alberta Learning Information Service Occupation Profiles, accounting careers will grow by 2.8 to 3.8 per cent annually for the next several years. As members of the baby boom generation retire over the next five to ten years, even more positions will come available to accounting professionals.

"There are all types of positions available to graduates of the accounting and payroll program," says Yaskow. "Many have moved on to office managers, payroll clerks, accounting technicians, human resource assistants, and bookkeepers."

For people who are driven by numbers and enjoy working independently, there couldn't be a better time to enter the accounting and payroll field.

Reeves College is now taking applications for the Accounting and Payroll Administrator diploma program. Graduates from this program are certified as official CPA Payroll Compliance Practitioners. For more information, visit www.reevescollege.ca.
