If you’re interested in a career as an acupuncturist, you can find out how to get started at the Open House at Reeves College’s Edmonton City Centre campus on January 30, 2014.
The Acupuncture program at Reeves College is an intensive 99-week program that combines the essentials of Western medicine with the fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Students learn about anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and Western medical diagnoses. They also study TCM theory, meridians and acupoints, acupuncture therapy, acupressure, TCM internal medicine and more. Patient counselling, communication skills, practice management and ethics are also covered. The program is a condensed version of the five-year acupuncture programs taught at medical universities in China.
Clinical placements are integral components of the program. Along with two clinical observation modules, students take part in five clinical internships, working under the supervision of an instructor who is also an experienced practitioner.
At the Open House, guests will have an opportunity to hear from instructors and chat with current students about their Reeves College experience. Campus staff will also be on hand to tour guests around the campus and answer any questions they might have.
